Fossil Fuels refer to combustible minerals that are gradually formed from the remains of ancient organisms under specific geological conditions through long-term complex changes. Mainly including Petroleum, natural gas, and coal, among which Petroleum includes its refined product, That is, Fuel oils. They are non-renewable energy sources. When burned, fossil fuels release a large amount of carbon dioxide, which is one of the main causes of climate change.
Classification of Marine Fossil Fuels can be divided into the following four categories based on different sources:
1. Marine Fuel Oil, includes Distillate fuels (Marine Diesel Fuels) and Residual Fuels (heavy fuel oil);
2. Crude Oil, refers to the substance is extracted directly from the oil well in the purest and undiffused condition.
3. Natural Gas, Marine natural gas mainly refers to liquefied natural gas (LNG).
4. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), refers to a mixed gas composed of hydrocarbons produced during the process of petroleum refining. It is a kind of clean-burning fossil fuel that can be used to drive turbine or internal combustion engines. It is a mixture of propane and butane, usually accompanied by a small amount of propylene and butane.
