Classification of Generator Sets:
1. According to the type of driving power, the generator sets can be classified into Engine generator sets and Turbine generator sets.
■ Engine Generator Sets, i.e. Internal-combustion engine generator sets. according to different fuels, the engine generator sets can be classified into Gas generator sets, Liquid fuel generator sets and Dual fuel generator sets;
■ Turbine Generator Sets, according to types of energy, the turbine generator sets can be classified into Gas turbine generator sets, Steam turbine generator sets, Hydro turbine generator sets and Wind turbine generators.
2. According to the classification of output voltage, the generator sets can be classified into Low-voltage generator sets, Medium voltage generator sets.
■ Low-voltage Generator Sets, refer to the rated voltage U ≤ 1000 V (AC). Common levels include 230V/400V, 277V/480V, 400V/690V, and 1000V, suitable for short distance distribution and small capacity loads.
■ Medium-voltage Generator Sets, refer to the rated voltage > 1 kV and ≤ 35 kV. Common levels include 3.3 kV, 4.16 kV, 6 kV, 6.3 kV, 6.6 kV, 10 kV, 10.5 kV, 11 kV, 12.47 kV and 13.8 kV. In the generator set industry, it is customary to refer to generator sets with an output exceeding 1 kV known as "High-voltage Generator Sets" to distinguish them from conventional Low-voltage generator sets. The single set capacity of such sets is generally above 1000 kW, suitable for high-capacity and long-distance transmission scenarios.
3. According to engine speed, the generator sets can be classified into High-speed generator sets (n > 1000 r/min), Medium-speed generator sets (300 < n ≤ 1000 r/min), and Low-speed generator sets (n ≤ 300 r/min).
4. According to the purpose of the generator set, it can be classified into three categories: Land-based generator sets, Marine generator sets, and Special generator sets.
■ Land-based Generator Sets, including Stationary generator sets and Mobile generator sets.
■ Marine Generator Sets, including Marine main generator sets, Marine auxiliary generator sets, Offshore platform generator sets, etc.
■ Special Generator Sets, including Enclosed generator sets, Mobile generator sets, and Emergency generator sets.
