Marine Dual Fuel Engine refers to a power device that uses both an environmentally friendly main fuel and fuel oil as fuel, diesel as ignition oil (pilot oil), and burns the fuel inside the machine to directly convert the heat energy generated into mechanical energy.
The Dual Fuel Engine solutions allows conventional diesel engines to operate on a mixture of environmentally friendly Main fuel and Fuel oil. The Main fuel refers to a clean, low-carbon, or renewable environmentally friendly fuel selected by the user, and Main fuels suitable for dual fuel engine include Natural gas, Liquid ammonia, and Methanol, etc. The Fuel oil refers to MGO (Diesel oil) and HFO, wherein the MGO is the pilot oil and also the fuel. Fuel can be easily stored in oil tanks.
Typical applications for this technology include power generation, pumps, compressors, marine propulsion and electromotive. The Dual Fuel System is also available in kit form for easy retrofit and engines converted to Dual Fuel will typically meet or exceed projected overhaul intervals. We offer a wide range of dual fuel engines with power output from 330 kW to 23,000 kW and above as required.
Classification of Dual Fuel Engines:
According to the different main fuels used, they can be classified into the following categories:
■ LNG Dual Fuel Engine, The dual fuel engine allows conventional diesel engines to operate on a mixture of natural gas and diesel (or HFO).
■ Methanol Dual Fuel Engine, It can achieve the mixed use of methanol and diesel, and can run in both methanol-diesel dual fuel mode and pure diesel mode, with emissions far below the standard limits of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
■ Liquid Ammonia Dual Fuel Engine, it is a power device that uses ammonia as the main fuel and is ignited with a small amount of diesel.
Marine Dual Fuel Engines are a major force in cargo and passenger ship propulsion and hence play a valuable role in facilitating world trade. Four-stroke engines of this type offer a power to weight ratio that makes them ideal for LNG ship, Liquid ammonia carrier, Methanol tanker, Cruise vessel, Ferry and Large multi-purpose freighter.
